Snapshot USA:  World's Export Powerhouse

The WBE.Net wants you to know you are a part of the greatest trading nation the world has ever seen.  The United States is the world's largest exporter, the top exporter of services, and second-largest exporter of goods.  US exports have increased because of rising foreign income, the expansion of production in the United States, and changes in exchange rates.  Falling tariffs, transportation costs, and communication costs (and the lower dollar) have cut the price of US goods in foreign markets, boosting demand for American products.  Considering communication alone, just think of the ease with which you can talk to practically anyone in the world, thanks to the Internet.  Greater export opportunities encourage makers of US goods to be more creative to reach the worldwide market...and this helps raise the living standard for Americans from all walks of life!

Working from Home - Cheaper, Smarter

WBE.Net CEO Roosevelt Roby has spent many years teaching people how to conduct home-based businesses, and never before has there been a better reason to consider doing it:   America's average retail price for gasoline has just hit a new high of $3.29 a gallon after rising more than three cents during the past week!  In fact, across the US, the price for regular, self-service gasoline is up 58 cents from a year ago thanks to skyrocketing crude oil prices, which are being passed directly to consumers.  This week, Congress is grilling the bosses of the big oil companies, including ExxonMobil, BP and Shell about the industry's billions of dollars in record profits.  A quick look at the average price per gallon:  Los Angeles, $3.60...Houston, $3.19...Seattle, $3.44.....New York City, $3.22...Miami, $3.39...Chicago, $3.44...Boston, $3.11 (lowest in country)....San Francisco, $3.65 (highest in country).  Bottom line:  it's much cheaper and smarter to fire up a computer than to be a commuter.  Meantime, for folks who ship goods by big-rig:  the price of diesel fuel has dropped for the first time in nine weeks, falling 2 1/2 cents to $3.96 a gallon, but still up over a dollar from a year ago.  Keep an eye on the news, as some truckers are thinking about striking over the high diesel prices.

What America's Selling to its Trade Partners

The numbers are in from January 2008, showing what kinds of goods US exporters are selling to America's major trade partners.  Exports to Canada totaled $20 Billion for the first month of the year.  The big leaders of US sales to our northern neighbor consist mainly of auto parts, auto accessories, and petroleum products.  America's exports to China in January totaled Six Billion Dollars, including electric machinery, sound and TV equipment, aircraft and agricultural products.  The US sold $12 Billion worth of goods to Mexico in January, mainly in electric goods and machines, automotive parts and automotive accessories.

Trade Tip:  Let's Go Shopping

With nearly 200 nations, Planet Earth offers a rich market for each country's products.  Every country has specialty retailers that serve as alternate channels for things that you, as a WBE.Net trader, can offer.  For example, if you are looking to do some importing, consider such American outlets as Trader Joe's, Cost Plus World Market,  Big Lots or Dollar Tree. These retailers offer many different brands and compete with  traditional supermarkets and mass-selling superstores.  To export to similar stores overseas, remember that each country has a trade promotion office looking for your products.  Plus, clicking to the official American website www.export.gov can steer you to assistance in practically all countries.  That site is maintained by the US Commerce Department - official partner of the World Business Exchange Network, and which has conferred special Certification to WBE.Net!
