Where The Rubber Meets The Export Road

As you've read in the WBE.Net Newsletter, one of the strongest areas for exporting American products to the world is medical equipment.   Countries across the planet are clamoring for our medical-related products.  We found a specific example of how a trader can make use of this opportunity.  It is Ambulance Network, Inc., a New Jersey-based firm that sells new and used ambulances and stretchers in the US and for export all over the world.  They have more than 100 ambulances in stock, and are specialists in working with exporters.  Ambulance Network, Inc. (1 800 648-9898, www.ambunet.com) refurbishes used ambulances on-site using professional mechanics, and is minutes away from Newark Liberty International Airport, a major hub for FedEx Express, one of the world's leading export carriers.  All the WBE.Net-trained middleman needs to do is find a buyer for this ready-to-go export product.  That might not be difficult in today's world where violent acts keep ambulances in constant demand, and where exporting this commodity might be considered an act of humanitarianism.

SBA Loan Tips

When you take your WBE.Net export training to the next level and decide to seek a loan with the Small Business Administration, here are some useful facts to keep in mind:  The SBA has three major lending programs - the General Program, the Certified Lender Program, and the Preferred Lender Program.  A good idea is to use a bank that is part of the Preferred Lender Program, or PLP.  That's because PLP-approved banks carry the highest authority and actually make loans as agents of the SBA!  This puts your loan on a fast-track for approval, in an era where time is more than ever of the essence.  With a PLP bank, all loan approvals are made right on the spot at your bank, which, because of its high status, can offer you more business support, services and borrowing options than any other type of lender.

Paying The Price For Tainted Toys

Hundreds of toy factories in China may be forced to close after the huge global recalls that recently hit the industry.  That's the word this week from the Hong Kong Toy Festival, which brought scores of manufacturers, buyers and exporters together in a bid to boost the tainted image of made-in-China toys.  Fearing that its huge toy export market might be hurt, China - maker of 60 percent of the world's toys - desperately put in strict quality-control measures, as did foreign buyers.  That's driven up overhead costs, which many of China's small and medium-sized toymakers cannot afford to pay...so mothballs and pink slips are on the way!

Put Fear Back In Its Box For '08

Ask any top performer, whether professional speaker, baseball player, surgeon or high wire artist:  What is your greatest obstacle?  The answer will probably be.....fear.   In most cases, fear of failure.  But did you know, there is an even bigger stumbling block that we sometimes place in front of ourselves?  It is fear of success.  While fear of failure is the fear of making mistakes and losing approval, fear of success is the fear of accomplishment and being recognized and honored.  Believe it or not, fear of success can explain why many new businesses fail within just a year or two of their start-up.   Some entrepreneurs actually sabotage their businesses without consciously knowing it.  The reasons for fear of success can vary.  Being seen as a success makes some people nervous.  In other words, they feel pressured by the idea of once you get it going, can you keep it going?  And then there are those who believe they don't deserve all the good things and recognition that come their way as a result of success.   On their website, www.coping.org, Drs. James and Constance Messina, Ph.D., offer tips on how to put new behavior patterns in place so you can overcome the fear of success:  Learn to reinforce yourself for the hard work, effort, and sacrifices you've made to achieve success.  Accept yourself as being healthy, "together,'' happy, successful, prosperous, and accomplished.  Accept the compliments and recognition of others with an open heart and mind.  And, perhaps most important, visualize your life when you are successful...and believe it to be so.  Useful ideas for the WBE.Net trader!
