Agriculture To GROW America's Export Trade In '08
A
good field to plow in 2008 will be agricultural exports. We expect that America's agricultural
industry will sell more than 90 billion dollars worth of goods to the world
during the new year. Helping the US out
will be ever-greater needs in China - and the stronger ability of China to pay
for those needs. And, don't forget the
weaker dollar. The weaker dollar makes
it cheaper for foreigners to buy from America.
(Latest news on this front: the
slide of the dollar is expected to ease up in '08). What are the most promising agricultural products to export?
Best bets: dairy products,
grains, oilseeds and cotton.
Look North For
Trade Profits!
Every single day, more than
two billion dollars worth of trade occurs between the United States and its
number-one trading partner, Canada. The
US-Canada trade relationship is the largest ever to exist between two nations. If you're looking for a good country to
export products to, just look
northward. And a great item to export
to Canada is the automobile. The 1965
Auto Pact, which established free trade in automobiles between Canada and the
United States, helped set the stage for an enormous increase in the amount of
commerce between the two countries.
WBE.Net trader alert: To export a car into Canada, make sure the vehicle
complies with all Canadian import laws.
The vehicle must meet requirements of the Canadian Border Services
Agency. Trailers, such as recreational,
camping, boat, horse and stock trailers, are considered vehicles, as are wood
chippers, generators and any other equipment mounted on rims and tires. For more information contact Canada's Border
Information Service at (204) 983-3500 or (506) 636-5064.
Strong Resource: The Big Brown Machine
United Parcel Service, best known as UPS, is the world's largest
delivery company. It carries more than
15 million packages a day to six million customers in more than 200 countries
and territories around the world. UPS
is headquartered in Sandy Springs, Georgia.
It operates its own airline, based in Louisville, Kentucky. Most important for the WBE.Net member, UPS
is a major player and huge helper for the small exporter. A leader in logistics, UPS is quite helpful because it has deep
knowlege of the regulations of all the trading countries of the world. If your UPS shipment is halted due to a
particular country's red tape, the company will step in and clear up the
problem for you . Using UPS greatly
simplifies the export process, and helps get rid of uncertainties that might beset the beginning trader. UPS is well known for its brown trucks,
which account for the company nickname "The Big Brown Machine." The company also owns the UPS Store, which
offers shipping, packaging and copying services.
