Print and post
(pin-up, tac-up, tape-up, staple-up, stick-up) this section
in your work area in plain sight.
You will be able to see this and refer
to it each time you work an order.
Tips for searching:
When searching for buyers
under "Current Trade Opportunities (W.B.E.)" or any
other database use these search words: (the underlined
terms are search keywords)
Load Size such
as FCL or full container load.
Time Frames such
as urgent, asap, immediate.
Weights such
as tons or mt.
Foreign City such
as London.
Foreign Country
such as France.
Products such as furniture,
paper, or precious Stones.
or any other category you
can think of to search.
When using each of these words individually to
search, you will get a broad variety of results with different
product names. Sometime there is no email address
in the order to contact the person named in the order directly.
When this happens, take the product name, go to "Independent
Trade Databases (Links). Click on a link you are familiar with
and find “Lead Types” or “Offer Types”.
Click the drop down menu and highlight "Offers
To Buy". Put that product name in the search box
and work all the orders. Each order in this area will have email
contact. All of the search words underlined
above should also be used in all the "Independent Trade
Database Links", under "Offers to Buy".
The Procedure:
Once you have found an order you wish to work, look for 4 main
components:
(1) Product name (with any specifications)
(2) Quantity (exact amount)
(3) How to Contact the company (email)
(4) Preferred method of shipping (CIF, CNF, C&F, CF,
CFR, FOB, FAS, Ex Works, etc...) and the exact destination.
(EXAMPLE: CIF London, England)
QUOTES MUST HAVE DESTINATION INFO AND METHOD OF SHIPPING,
TOGETHER WITH PRODUCT NAME AND QUANTITY.
At this point, concentrate on the offers that have complete information, contact the supplier to get the proper
type of quote.
If the order is missing any of these four (4) components, you then
contact the buyer and get the missing info. The product name, the
exact specifics of the product (if any), the quantity, the specific
preferred method of shipping (CIF, C&F,CF, FAS, CNF,
CFR, Ex Works, etc.) and the exact destination must
all be in a request for quotation.
