| Last Year U.S. Exports
Topped $1 Trillion Dollars.
See Why Successful Businessman Roosevelt Roby is In Pursuit To Educate
Americans on
the Importance of International Trade
Los Angeles, CA - In 1987, while most of America
was enthralled with the Iran-Contra scandal that involved Former President
Ronald Reagan and his staff, Entrepreneur Roosevelt Roby had his eyes
set on changing the economy. With nothing more than an outline and the
need for Americans to export products to countries overseas, Roby tackled
this idea and started the World Business Exchange Network
www.wbe.net. Today, his company is one of the largest on-line trade
associations in the country. Certified by the United States Department
of Commerce in concurrence with the United States Department of Justice,
Roby has coached thousands of Americans on Export Trade. This self-made
entrepreneur is in pursuit to educate Americans on why International trade
is more lucrative now, more than ever before. Roby offers advice to anyone
looking to get involved with trade.
Q: What is the World Business
Exchange Network?
A. The World Business Exchange Network is an online
trade association that specializes in educating the aspiring entrepreneur
or small business owner on how to become successful export trade agents
in the lucrative trade industry. WBE instantly puts individuals in
touch with thousands of buyers and sellers from all over the world
looking to buy American products.
Q: What was the motivation behind you becoming
involved in International Trade?
A. Well, the biggest motivation for me getting
involved with trade was to create economics that could assist us in
our communities and to eliminate downsizing of businesses. After my
wife and I started producing books and tapes on how to start-up various
home based businesses, we were asked by the Christian Science Monitor
to do a test market on their short-wave radio program to see if it
had any commercial value or appeal. So we ran an ad that said “We
can be your eyes and ears in America if you want to buy or sell a
product or service, we can be your agent.” So, after the first
30 days we received over 9,000 letters from people all over the world
looking to get involved with our program. I was amazed at the large
response we received from people wanting to become involved in trade
with the U.S.
Q: Can anyone become an exporter, and if so, what
are the requirements needed to start up an export business?
A: Yes, anyone can do this with proper training
and coaching. However, you need to have access to the Internet, and
you must have some working knowledge on how to use the Internet. Our
government loans millions and millions of dollars to American businesses
looking to export products to countries overseas .to help maintain
and help re-build their infrastructure.
Q: What are some of the most sought after products
on the International market?
A: You will be surprised, over 5 billion people
outside the U.S. want to purchase products from our country. Everything
from facial tissue, tires, batteries, turbo chargers, footballs, basketball,
and even candy. People in foreign countries want things we take for
granted. Each day we get orders from the U.S. Department of Commerce,
the American Embassies, and the United Nations from people requesting
products. Most countries that receive aid the money is then ear marked
to spend back here with American entrepreneurs. American products
are in huge demand, and since we are the richest country in the world,
people are naturally going to want our products. I’ve discovered
that most foreign countries have money available to start doing business
with American exporters, the problem very few of us know how to put
together a trade transaction.
Q: Does a person need a license, or have to put
out any of their own money to make trade deals happen?
A: No, all you need is access to the Internet.
As far as money goes, no not really, overseas buyers already have
American dollars in their bank accounts, readily available to spend
back with American businesses.
Q: How does the training that the World
Business Exchange Network provide, influence the economies of people
in the community other than the exporter?
A: We have to keep in mind that our government
is now easing up from a war. The government plans to spend over a
trillion dollars in countries like Afghanistan and other war torn
areas to help re-build their infrastructure to spend back with American
businesses and entrepreneurs. This is where our communities can get
involved. The training that we provide is for any and everyone looking
to change a career path or start a business. I always encourage the
small business owner or aspiring entrepreneur to pick up a local phone
book, and find distributors and or wholesalers who have products that
may be desired overseas. For example, a candy distributor in your
area can start doing business with buyers overseas, and what that
brings is economics to your community; it will help establish great
relations with people overseas, and a better America. It all makes
sense and it all works; it’s just a matter of having patience,
understanding, and a commonsense approach towards working with other
people.
Q: WBE has received certifications from the U.S.
Department of Commerce and the U.S. Department of Justice, what has
been the overall response from your local government and the communities?
A: The response has been great. My company is actually
certified by the U.S. Department of Commerce, in concurrence with
the United States Department of Justice, which gives me the right
to exercise the practice of promoting U.S. exports and develop Export
Trading Companies. There was an Act passed by congress called the
Export Trade Act of 1982, that basically states that United States
exporters are encouraged to facilitate the formation and operation
of export trading companies, trade associations, and the expansion
of export trade services worldwide. When I first started working with
the late Former Secretary of Commerce Ron Brown, he helped make it
a reality for me that trade is important in the community. This realization
has helped open a window of opportunity for me to educate the American
entrepreneur on the importance of trade.
Q: I understand that your program has now reached
the public sector, meaning high schools, what has been the overall
response from both students and teachers?
A: The response has been great. What I decided
to do with my program was to teach students how to get involved with
trade. The same information that WBE offers to adults we also offer
the same information to high school kids. And since introducing my
program to public schools, students test scores, and overall attendance
rates have increased by as much as 44%. Having access to this technology
has made it possible
Q: It seems that starting an export business
can change a person’s quality of life. Was that your initial
goal with WBE?
A: Absolutely, my goal is to help educate entrepreneurs,
students, and small business owners on the importance of export trade.
Trade is our future; this country was discovered on a trade mission.
By teaching individuals and having access to this technology we now
have the ability to reach millions of people around the world faster
than lightening. It’s time for us to start thinking globally.
