| California Governor Honors
Businessman For His Excellence in Promoting Global Trade and for Hiring
of the Disabled.
Los Angeles,
CA - Businessman Roosevelt Roby and his company the World Business
Exchange Network was recently honored by California State Governor Gray
Davis for his excellence in promoting education, international trade,
and hiring of the disabled in America and in developing countries.
“To be recognized by the Governor this really means
a lot. “I’ve work hard over the years to try and offer people
a chance to engage in real life experiences despite whatever obstacles
they might have faced,” said Roby.
He is the Founder and CEO of the World Business Exchange
Network www.wbe.net, an on-line trade
association. In addition he is also President of the non-profit R.E.I.S.
Foundation www.reisfoundation.org
an outreach educational program dedicated to expanding progressive technology
in the classroom.
Roby first met Davis in 1998 when former President Bill
Clinton was in Southern California during a tour on Poverty at Locke High
School. Impressed with his program, Davis along with the Clinton, both
pledged their support of R.E.I.S. and WBE in an effort to help educate
Americans and students on the vast opportunities in export trade.
“I first realized the importance of educating
students and adults on world trade after noticing huge dropout rates amongst
students in inner city high schools, and the rise in unemployment, “said
Roby.
According to the U.S. Department of Commerce, every billion
dollars made in exporting creates 20,000 new jobs, and that number is
expected to increase by the end of the year 2004.
“ I decided to share my knowledge with the rest
of the world on the importance of import/export trade for American businesses
and entrepreneurs,” he said.
Roby has since devoted himself to creating more job opportunities
for people to participate in this global reaching business. Last year
he joined forces with Operation Confidence a non-profit organization dedicated
to training and hiring disabled to help them to engage in real jobs, and
to help stop discrimination against the disabled in the workforce
Both his non-profit R.E.I.S. and his company WBE were
designed to educate students in grade levels K-12 and adult community
organizations the principles of entrepreneurship, international trade,
and global technology over the Internet. ###
