LOS ANGELES, CA, Roosevelt Roby, CEO and President
of The World Business Exchange Network, spoke at the L.A. County
Library in Tujunga as part of a Black History Month closing celebration.
The theme of the celebration was Understanding Our Past, Living
Today, Creating Our Future. Mr. Roby was asked to present
by Cathy Shannon, Financial Center Manager for Citibank. Ive
heard the story of how Mr. Roby became a successful businessman
and I
knew the students of Mount Gleason Middle School would be delighted
to hear his perspective on Black History, as we close up the month-long
celebration, said Ms. Shannon.
I like to tell students that if I can make
it, they can make it. My father was a poor sharecropper and I didnt
learn to read until I was 27 years old. If you believe in yourself,
you can succeed in anything you put your mind to do, said
Mr. Roby, whom has become a self-made multi-millionaire as an entrepreneur
in international trade.
